New Fabrics Among UltraComfort’s Fall Lift Recliner Introductions

Old Forge, PA – October 26, 2017 – UltraComfort America introduced two new fabric patterns and several new UltraPlush Brisa® colors at this past High Point Market.  In addition to new fabrics, an articulating headrest accessory and design upgrades to two of their current models were also introduced.  These changes come as part of an ongoing initiative to offer retailers and consumers the most comfortable and profitable lift recliner in the industry.

Two new fabric introductions came after extensive industry research on the available options as well as the wants and needs of the retailer and consumer. A pattern called Scrumptious was introduced into the StellarComfort Collection as an upgraded version of a padded suede with a subtle pattern. The pattern Easy Living was also debuted for the Tranquility Collection. This fabric has a modern, chenille look, with a soft feel and pleasing color line that will compliment many different decors. In addition, UltraComfort revamped their current UltraPlush Brisa program by offering a more neutral, earthy color palate of fabrics, including blues and greys. UltraPlush Brisa is one of UltraComfort’s most popular high-performance fabric.

In addition to fabrics, product upgrades were also introduced.  The UC550, a best seller for the line, can now be ordered with an articulating headrest as an accessory on the medium and large sizes. Several quick ship options are available to satisfy the increasing demand for this accessory.

Lastly, upgrades were made to two of our current models. The UC680, which has been a favorite since its launch, will now feature a bucket-style seat, same as the UC556 and UC520. This seat design

has been noted as one of our most comfortable seats utilizing different density foam to create the ultimate recline experience. Secondly, style and comfort changes were made to the existing UC792 Pub chair.  A chaise was added for extra comfort, smaller nail heads and a new arm design were implemented for a more updated look.

Lift Chair Company Launches Digital Media Initiative

January 24, 2015 – Las Vegas, NV – Old Forge based lift chair manufacturer, UltraComfort America, enthusiastically debuts their digital media initiative at the Las Vegas Furniture Market. This initiative was developed to assist retailers with advertising, marketing and merchandising of power lift chairs in our increasingly “digital savvy” world.

“Digital marketing is here to stay and proven to be effective when integrated into a business model”, stated Bob Smith, VP of Sales and Marketing. “We are dedicated to making it simple for our retailers to be a part of digital media by providing them with ready to use, personalized video files and a user-friendly website that consumers will deem memorable.” UltraComfort debuted this effort by introducing three digital aspects to Market visitors: recorded interviews with the retailer filmed in the UC showroom, a newly redesigned website and two new 30 second commercials available to the retailers at no charge.

Interviews with retailers were filmed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday of Market. The interviews gave retailers a platform to not only   “This is a great way for the retailer to be heard”, explained Tim Robinson, Director of Digital Media. “It also gives them a chance to promote lift chairs even when they aren’t physically present in their store. With the category beginning to really take off, this gives them an opportunity to put extra effort behind the promotion without taking away from anything else.”

Another digital launch is the introduction of a newly designed website featuring a retailer log in portion that will allow retailers to access product images, literature PDFs and other important UltraComfort information with a username and password. The overall design of the website has a modern, lifestyle feel with video headers placed to catch the attention of the visitor immediately. This site also features videos throughout to enhance user experience and product knowledge. UltraComfort America Sets New Standard for Lift Chair Merchandising with Cornerstone Program

UltraComfort America has set a higher standard for all lift chair merchandising with the creation of their Cornerstone program, the first and only system developed to guide furniture retailers, as well as their consumers, through a step by step process that will assure the perfect lift chair is sold and purchased.

The Cornerstone program consists of an interactive kiosk that pinpoints the consumer’s needs through a three step process of qualifying questions, statements of Collection features and images of specific models and covers available to the consumer. The kiosk also houses 18×18 hanging fabric swatches and brochures relevant to the line. In addition to this kiosk, Cornerstone retailers are also provided with a support package that helps generate higher lift chair sales as well as a higher average ticket price.

“Lift chairs, or as we like to refer to them ‘power recliners that lift’, are still a murky water for a lot of furniture retailers as well as the individuals on their sales team”, states Bob Smith, VP of Sales and Marketing. “With the changes in Medicare and the aging Baby Boomer population, we saw a need to make the process of flooring and selling ‘power recliners that lift’ as simple as possible. We are preparing our retailers for a category that will eventually become one of their largest in the years to come.”

The Cornerstone program was launched July 2014 with not only acceptance, but excitement from retailers. Since its inception, it has produced measurable results with some retailers seeing as much as a 50% increase in lift chair sales. UltraComfort Launches Third Generation of Exclusive AutoDrive™ Hand Control

UltraComfort America has revolutionized the lift chair hand control with the third generation of its exclusive AutoDrive™ hand control for their patented StellarComfort Collection of “power recliners that lift”.

“We’ve been referring to it as “AutoDrive 3.0” because of the technological advancements it has over our current version of AutoDrive. We’ve brought it to the field and retailers who have seen it cannot wait for it to be available on our StellarComfort chairs,” says Richard Golden, CEO.

Not only is the appearance of the hand control different from earlier versions, but the chair’s functionality has dramatically improved for a more comfortable, user-friendly experience.

The new technology inside the hand control, along with a faster motor to move the backrest, have increased the speed of the backrest raising from the Zero Gravity position to a fully lifted position by 30%. UltraComfort’s StellarComfort chairs are dual motor chairs, with separate motors to move the backrest and operate the lift mechanism.

“It’s important for people to understand we are not increasing the speed of the lift function of the chair as it raises off the floor. Increasing the chair’s lifting speed could be dangerous to some consumers who may not be able to stand that quickly without losing their balance and falling,” says Golden. “What we have done is increase the speed of the backrest raising up to 90 degrees from whatever position the user was reclined in, such as Trendelenburg, Zero Gravity or Sleep. This will decrease the amount of overall time it takes someone to go from one of those positions to a standing position, without risking their safety.”

The top two buttons, LIFT and RECLINE, are the Total Control buttons. They will operate the chair the way a traditional two-button hand control operates a three-position lift chair while still allowing the user to experience patented positioning technology featured only in the StellarComfort Collection.

The hand control’s middle buttons – ZG, TV, SIT, SLEEP and P – provide Position Control for the user. ZG stands for the Zero Gravity position. TV is for UltraComfort’s TV Watching position, a customer favorite. SIT moves the chair into the seated position with the footrest closed, and SLEEP is pre-programmed for the most common sleep position using a lift chair. The small P button is the programming button that allows the user to set the four positioning buttons to their personalized version of each position.

“No other “power recliner that lifts” on the market today features programmability the way UltraComfort lift chairs operated with the AutoDrive hand control do,” says Golden. “Consumers can set all four of those buttons to their most comfortable position quickly and easily for a customized comfort experience.”

The bottom buttons surrounding the chair graphic are for Custom Control, allowing the user to customize the backrest and footrest to the exact position they find most comfortable.

In addition to a new layout of the operating buttons, the next generation AutoDrive hand control has a more ergonomic design that rests more comfortably in the hand; a flat back so the hand control can be placed on the armrest without falling off; and lockout features for user’s safety. For those who like the style and movement of our StellarComfort Collection, but prefer a two-button hand control, a partial lock option is available allowing only the “Lift” and “Recline” buttons to be used. A Total Lock feature is also available which will disable the entire hand control for safety and convenience.

“We’ve spent months perfecting the programming in the AutoDrive hand control, along with its functionality, aesthetics and ergonomics. We believe that AutoDrive 3.0 is the most important advancement in hand control design since the introduction of the lift chair,” says Golden.
